Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Refresher Training for ITE Programs
The Davao Central College (DCC) Information Technology Education (ITE) Deans, Program Heads, and Faculty Members Gathered for a Two-day Face-to-face Training for Information Technology Education.
An innovative practice training of the Outcome-Based
Education (OBE) training took place on April 4 and 5 of 2024,
hosted by Davao Central College Dr. Pedrito M. Castillo, the Vice President of
the Institute of Pedagogical Advancement and Competitiveness from the University of Mindanao is the speaker of the said training.
On the first day of the training, Dr. Castillo covered the
main components of Outcome-Based Education during his presentation. These
components included the Vision, Mission, Values, and Gradual Attributes that
should be mirrored in the Strategic Plan through the established Key Result
Areas (KRAs).
On the second day of the training, all the participants
presented their outputs which included the outcomes mapping or alignment, Course
Outcome, Program outcome assessments, analysis, also strategies for
implementing OBE in their institutions. The presentations served as platforms
for sharing unique yet valuable perspectives on implementing OBE in educational
establishments. The presentation served as an opportunity for attendees
to engage in meaningful discussions. It provides an opportunity for the
participants to share their ideas, practices, the challenges, and foster a
deeper understanding of the topics covered.
Participants are actively engaged in productive discussions
during the workshop. Dr. Castillo’s expertise and guidance provided a valuable
understanding of the principles and practices of Outcome-Based Education
(OBE). Dr. Castillo’s wisdom and knowledge on the subject sparked meaningful
conversations among the participants allowing them to delve deeper into the
intricacies of OBE. He shared practical strategies and best practices,
encouraging the participants to apply these principles to their educational
institutions.
The training became an environment of collaboration, as the
participants exchanged ideas, insights, and experiences. This training is not
just about technology but also to enhance the overall skills and knowledge of
the participants.
